Holistic Education

Education experts insisted that education should be understood as the art of cultivating the moral, emotional, physical, physchological and spiritual dimensions of the developing child.

A holistic way of thinking seeks to encompass and integrate multiple layers of meaning and experience rather than defining human possibilities narrowly.

Holistic education aims to raise an intrinsic reverence for life and a passionate love of learning. This is done, through direct engagement with the environment, nurturing a sense of wonder. Holistic education rejects the idea of a "curriculum" that condenses the world into instructional packages.

The holistic educators value the many paths of learning as what is appropriate for some may not be best for others.

Holistic education lies is responsiveness to diverse learning styles and the needs of evolving human beings. By accommodating differences and refusing to label children, teachers bring out the uniqueness within each child's spirit.

Holistic Development

Development is holistic; it consists of inter-dependant dimensions. The child's development cannot be compertmentalized into health, nutrition, education, social, emotional and spiritual variables.

All are interwoven in a child's life and developing stimutaneously. Progress in one area effects progress in others. Similarly, when something goes wrong in any one of those areas, it has an impact on all the other areas.

FunGates

FunGates uses guided hands-on learning apparatus believed to make learning fun and effective.

Each student has a similar set of aparatus as the teacher's. Hence, learning is no longer constrained by insufficient apparatus.

Children are given a headstart to take on learning challenges. Emphasis is given to integrity and values- important in character building.

Young Thinkers

..
In 2002, mothers Marisa Harun and Raihan Halaluddin combined their vast teaching experience (of over 20 years) to establish a school for early education. They believed children should learn and be encouraged to think for themselves and thus created Young Thinkers – an educational hub aimed at developing cognitive and social skills that enable children to become better learners and communicators.

At Young Thinkers, the children and teaching staff are like a big extended family. Completely at-ease with the surroundings, the children are free to be themselves. The teachers are able to make learning fun because they really enjoy what they do.

Learning for Life
Young Thinkers utilizes creative and innovative programs to enhance children’s educational experience in their discovery and quest for knowledge. The Playgroup develops concentration, coordination and sense of order through subjects such as practical life, sensorial and culture, number work and language, using Montessori materials together with specimens, experiments, group discussions, arts, music and movement and field trips.

Children are taught in small groups or individually to ensure all children will be able to read, write and count. Young Thinkers syllabus for children 4-6, is designed to build a strong foundation in addition to support future education and ease transition into primary school. This topics related to basic and familiar elements and concepts in a child’s daily environment makes the learning experience as hands on as possible.

Cultivating Confident Communicators
Young Thinkers places strong emphasis on language development specifically in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Phonetics and whole language are introduced early to build extroverted and confident individuals.

Facilities include library and playground area. Arts and crafts and music are thematically included in the curriculum. All teachers are eloquent speakers in addition to having Montessori Diplomas and are assisted by trained assistants. Regular parental contact enables the exchange of ideas between parents and teachers.

Montessori Kidz Studio

Kidz Studio’s Mission is to stimulate and improve children’s knowledge and understanding, involvement, visions and creative thinking - and expose them to positive experiences. This is to grow self-confidence, high self-esteem, interpersonal skills, articulate abilities, critical sense, openness, tolerance and respect for others.

Observing to understand, plan and progress
Kidz Studio observes the children as an integral part of each day’s experience to be able to follow and understand the child in order to plan appropriately for the child’s development and ensure continuity and progression. Careful, purposeful observation significantly improves the ability to give the right lesson, to respond appropriately and to understand the child on a more meaningful level, and thus be better educators.

Knowledge of and respect for cultural and social similarities and differences
Kidz Studio respects individual differences and the cultural and social backgrounds of the children, discouraging any form of discrimination, whether racial, cultural, religious or gender, because it is detrimental to the overall development of children. Children develop an anti-discriminatory and anti-racist approach.

Organising the environment
Besides planning the learning experiences of the children, Kidz Studio has prepared an environment in which children feel safe and secure and yet challenge them in an appropriate manner.

Kidz Studio has created a garden environment with challenging and appealing play structures with a mini zoo and room for gardening and exploration of nature. Kidz Studio encourages children to have close contact with nature and outdoor life, because experiences have proved that:

• The children have fewer conflicts
• They function better as a group
• Their ability to acquire and assess knowledge is strengthened
• Their ability to distinguish between living and dead is strengthened, as well as understanding the concept of living in and with the nature
• Their ability to concentrate improves
• Their gross and fine motor skills are strengthened
• They become more creative in their play and overall in terms of academic performance and development of solutions and ideas, which determine future success

Sound knowledge of child development and educational theory

As new research becomes available on how young children develop, Kidz Studio modify approaches to teaching to accommodate new practices because they believe that understanding children and their needs are at the heart of all early years teaching.

My Little Home

The Story behind My Little Home

My Little Home was conceptualized taking into account our personal hopes and desires as parents. We realise only too well the challenges of parent-hood, managing quality time for the children with the other needs of today’s busy lifestyle and grappling with the question of when to provide discipline and when to give the child a free rein. We volunteer to carry your burden for you by providing the best for your child with our highly trained and efficient Montessori staff and carefully planned curriculum.

My Little Home Set-Up

My Little Home is a pre-school designed to not only bring out the best in your child but to also suit your convenience as a parent. With large grounds, the school premise consists of 6 new classrooms, brand new computer and music rooms, mini wading pool and a spacious play area.

My Little Home has plenty to offer children in terms of an extensive and detailed curriculum, extra activities and socialization. We provide for an integrated learning process that begins at 18 months and continues until 6+. This allows for consistency in the learning environment for the child, so parents need not worry about having to change schools along the way. After-school care is also provided.

My Little Home Philosophy

Our system of education strictly adheres to the Montessori Method which emphasizes the development of a child’s ability to learn in an independent manner according to their own pace. Thus, when a child is properly directed we believe learning becomes natural (which is why Montessori-trained teachers are referred to as “Directress” and not as “teachers”). Children are encouraged to learn from each other in small groups and in this way develop not just their mental and physical skills but also social ones.

My Little Home’s Little Extras

An early grounding in art, music, languages and IT will provide the basis for excellence later in life. Bearing this in mind, we have tailor-made classes in these respective areas:
Mandarin, Music, Art, IT

Your child will have the opportunity to further develop their artistic, musical and linguistic skills by way of additional classes all conducted within the premises of My Little Home. These classes will be provided as an optional extra.

Make the right choice. A nurturing environment for your child and peace of mind for you. My Little Home……your child’s home away from home.

Tadika Diyana

Tadika Diyana is a one-stop kindergarten offering total development for children that started in 1985 with four classrooms has grown to it's present location that is now equipped with 20 classrooms, including computer room, multi-purpose hall, outdoor and indoor play areas, playhouse, music room and garden.

Tadika Diyana’s purpose-built campus complements its Montessori and Multiple Intelligence methods of education. The kindergarten lays a strong foundation in Montessori for younger children before proceeding with Multiple Intelligence.

For children under four, the Montessori Method encourages and builds their motor skills, language, social, cultural, logical and mathematical development. This method provides an education for life, and gives children the freedom to choose and explore their interests at their own pace.

Multiple Intelligence prepares five and six year olds for primary school. This method enables teachers to recognize the unique opportunities, resources and encouragement. Upon enrolling, each child is placed into the appropriate level guiding children through a carefully structured and caring environment.

With over 380 students, classes are still kept small to provide invidual attention. The highly qualified teachers use an integrated teaching method combining story telling, discussion, art, music, pictures and other non-monotonous activities to encour age children to learn. Children absorb knowledge differently and the combinations of varied teaching methods help create an interest in learning.

Parental involvement books allow parents to comment on their children’s progress via weekend exercises. Parents are regularly updated on their children’s development and school work is compiled into a portfolio at the end of each year.

Full Mandarin Session is available during the afternoon.

Extra-curricular activities include ballet, art, handicraft, speech and drama, mini-tennis, mini badminton, mini golf, wushu, mental arithmetic, hip-hop, kid yoga and agama classes are also available.
